In response to government initiatives and building on their own commitment to sustainable practice, during 2013, BBR Holdings (S) Ltd established a new wholly-owned subsidiary – BBR Greentech Pte. Ltd – to carry out system integration and distribution of renewable energy solutions. The company tenders for projects to supply, install and lease solar panels and grid connected systems for statutory boards and private sector customers. BBR Holdings (S) Ltd is gradually implementing green technology as part of its total solutions package for potential project bids to tap into the rising demand for more green buildings.
The company’s principal activities consist of system integration and distribution of renewable energy, and supply, installation and leasing of solar panels and grid connected systems. Recent awards include a contract for the installation of a solar photovoltaic system on the rooftops of HDB flats in Ang Mo Kio Town. Under the solar leasing model, the company will design, install, operate and maintain a five megawatt peak grid-tied system and sign a 20-year power purchase agreement with the town council to purchase solar generated electricity at a preferential rate. A further contract was awarded by a wholly-owned subsidiary of SGX-ST listed GKE Corporation Limited to design, install, operate and maintain a 490 kilowatt peak grid-tied system over a 25- year lease period.
In recent years, there has been a growing trend in promoting and driving Singapore’s construction industry towards building more environmentally-friendly buildings. This is an initiative that is supported by local and international bodies within the construction industry to promote green sustainability in the built environment as well as greater environmental awareness.
