Latest BBR technology for Rio Corgo Viaduct
Following an investment of €60 million - the largest in Herzegovina – and with the help of the BBR Network, the new Mepas Mall in Mostar is now open for business!
The use of post-tensioned concrete has not only promoted a more sustainable structure – less materials and the ability to reconfigure sections with changing use over time – but it has also allowed increased column-free space and a faster completion time. Some 75,000 m2 of post-tensioned concrete was installed by the team from BBR Adria who used over 250 tons of prestressing steel and 18,700 BBR VT CONA CMM anchorages. The new mall is the first of its kind in the region and features a five screen cinema, a five star hotel, a supermarket and 90 shops – plus car parking facilities for 605 vehicles in its underground garage. The structure has ten floors above ground and three below. It is anticipated that the new Mepas Mall will create around 1,000 jobs in the region – and, after 20 years without one, local people are also delighted to have a cinema once again.
